Carlton rocked by Covid as coach, star ruled out
Carlton has been rocked by the news its coach and a star player have been separated from the team, just hours after their Round 1 win.

They will have to isolate for seven days under the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
As a result, Voss and Martin will miss next Thursday night’s blockbuster match against the Bulldogs.
Senior assistant Ashley Hansen will coach Carlton in Voss’ absence against his former team.
All players and staff had returned negative Covid tests on Thursday ahead of their Round 1 game against Richmond.
In his first game in charge of Carlton, Voss ushered in a new era in style as the Blues defeated the Tigers by 25 points at the MCG in impressive fashion.
“Importantly, Michael, Jack and our staff are feeling well, which is the number one priority here obviously and they will now isolate for the required periods of time,” Carlton football boss Brad Lloyd said in a statement.
“All had tested negative prior to interacting with the football program, however by today all four had returned a positive result.
“The impact of COVID-19 is still clearly a reality that we remain mindful of, so we will make the necessary adjustments, adapt and remain focused on our goal for the next week – which is preparing for a strong performance next Thursday night.”
Carlton had 37 players available for Round 1 and another 14 AFL-listed players took part in a VFL practice match earlier on Thursday, meaning the Blues won’t require players from their replacement pool.
