Luke Beveridge and the Western Bulldogs will resume contract talks next week, with both parties reportedly keen to extend the coach’s tenure into at least a 10th season.

Beveridge currently stands as one of three coaches without a contract beyond 2023, along with Port Adelaide’s Ken Hinkley and Brisbane’s Chris Fagan.

The Herald Sun reports Beveridge and the Dogs will continue contract discussions when the 52-year-old returns from leave next week.

Beveridge, the report says, has backing from Bulldogs officials.

Football boss Chris Grant and CEO Ameet Bains are set to recommend to the board it extend Beveridge’s tenure.

A one or two-year offer appears most likely.

The Dogs have looked to bolster their off-field football department to provide more support to Beveridge, with senior assistant coach Brendon Lade joining the club after stints at Richmond, Port Adelaide and St Kilda.

Beveridge famously took his side to premiership glory in just his second year at the helm, but the side has failed to finish in the top four during any season under his watch.

He holds a winning percentage of 56.83 from his 104 games as coach, including a second grand final appearance in 2021.
