Lions captain Dayne Zorko has been sidelined by a hamstring injury that will force him to miss Brisbane’s two upcoming intra-club games.

However, the club’s football manager Danny Daly wasn’t too concerned with the injury and predicted Zorko would be fit to play in the Lions’ trial against the Sydney Swans on February 24.

“He’ll be OK in a couple of weeks,” Daly said.

“The injury isn’t as bad as it could have been, which we’re glad about.”

However, the versatile veteran, who turned 34 on Thursday, won’t play in intra-club matches this week and next week at Brighton Homes Arena.

Daly said the injury was only a minor setback for Zorko in what has otherwise been an impressive pre-season for the Brisbane skipper, who is set to enter his 12th campaign with the Lions and add to his 230 AFL appearances for the club.

“He’s very fit. It’s helped that he hasn’t brought any injury problems into the pre-season,” Daly said.
“That has made a big difference.”

Midfielder Jarrod Berry will miss Friday’s intra-club trial as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.

However, Berry should be available for Friday week’s intra-club trial.

Experienced on-baller Jarryd Lyons will play his first intra-club match of the pre-season on Friday after recovering from groin surgery he had in November.
