With safe hands and a booming kick, the comparisons between Perkins and Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker are certainly there to be made.
But it was Perkins’ own story of determination that will surely earn her an army of new and enamoured supporters.

Overlooked at the draft, she was offered a lifeline by the Crows, who took her as a free agent.
Prior to that she had shed a massive 40 kilograms to get herself match fit.
Speaking to Fox Footy after the Crows six-goal win over GWS the magnitude of the moment and everything she’d achieved was palpable.
“I loved it. To be out here with the girls and put on that display with this amazing atmosphere is just the greatest thing ever,” Perkins said.
As for the new nickname?
“I think I’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill,” Perkins said.
“Tex is a great man. If I could ever play like Tex I’d be pretty happy with myself.”
