ROBBO: HANNAH MOUNCEY’S EXCLUSION A DISGRACE Unlike the AFL draft, players must nominate in which they wish to play — with only clubs from that state permitted to draft them. HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: — The AFL Women’s draft will be held today with 49 players to be selected. — Players nominate a state they wish to play in and can only be taken by a club in that state. — So while Fremantle has the second pick in the draft, that is only for players from Western — Australia or those who have nominated to play in the west. — The Bulldogs are in the box seat and essentially have pick Nos.1 and 3 of the Victorian talent; Collingwood has pick No.2, Melbourne pick No.4. — The four Victorian clubs have 20 picks in total. — There is a rookie draft on Friday — clubs have three rookies; one crosscode and one aged under 21 and the third, one of either. — Draft order is based on AFLW01 finishing positions and trades done in the May exchange period. — For example Collingwood traded Nicola Stevens to GWS for pick 1, which it ontraded to the Western Bulldogs as part of a deal for Jaimee Lambert ROUND ONE 1.
