BRISBANE star Simon Black is set to ditch the lime green substitute's vest and take his place in the Lions' starting side for Saturday night's clash with Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

After training with the main group on Wednesday, Black was tonight named in Brisbane's on-ball division for the clash with the Blues.

He was shock selection as the Lions' sub against Richmond last weekend due to concerns over a lingering knee injury and played just over a quarter of football.

The mercurial Jared Brennan did not train on Wednesday but is expected to take his place in the Suns' line-up.

HAWTHORN superstar Lance Franklin will miss his fifth match with a torn hamstring, cutting his finals preparation short and jeopardising his Coleman medal hopes.

Franklin was again left out of the Hawks' squad ahead of their clash with a battling Port Adelaide.

The Hawks recalled Max Bailey, while Xavier Ellis is in the match to return from a knee injury after being named on an extended bench.

Collingwood recalled premiership star Alan Didak to replace suspended Brownlow medallist Dane Swan, while Chris Tarrant and Marty Clarke will also bolster the Pies.

Cats coach Chris Scott again overlooked speedster David Wojcinski, while Norm Smith medallist Andrew Embley will return for the Eagles.

Carlton's calf victims Andrew Walker and Mitch Robinson were both named to face Brisbane Lions on Saturday night, along with classy left-foot rookie Rhys O'Keefe.

Matthew Watson returns after 23 booming touches in the VFL, replacing hamstrung defender Michael Jamison.

Essendon will replace hamstrung pair Jason Winderlich and Ben Howlett with returning victims from its soft-tissue injury curse.

The Bombers recalled Angus Monfries, Stewart Crameri, Michael Hibberd and Dustin Fletcher from injury, while Brendan Lee and David Hille were also included and named on an extended bench.
