AFL teams: Jarrod Witts, Rhys Stanley managed from Gold Coast-Geelong clash

Gold Coast co-captain Jarrod Witts will join a raft of senior stars watching from the sidelines when the Suns face Geelong in Darwin on Thursday night.

Witts has been rested along with Nick Holman, gun forward Jed Walter and fellow academy draft pick Jake Rogers as David Swallow and Brayden Fiorini return for the Suns.

Ned Moyle will lead the ruck division in Witts’ absence against young Cats Toby Conway and Shannon Neale, who will replace Tom Hawkins (managed) and Jeremy Cameron (concussion).

Veteran Cat Mitch Duncan has also been rested, while Rhys Stanley has been listed as managed after he was tactically subbed out before halftime in Geelong’s loss to Port Adelaide on Friday night.

Jack Bowes and Tanner Bruhn will both return to bolster Geelong’s midfield after missing the Power clash, while last week’s sub Oisin Mullin has held his spot in the 23.

There was no room in the Geelong side for Zach Tuohy after he was “managed” the week prior, with the Irishman named in the emergencies alongside Mitch Knevitt and Connor O’Sullivan.

Inaugural Sun Sam Day will replace Walter up forward, with the top-10 pick on standby along with Rogers and Holman in the emergencies.
