HAWTHORN has promoted three talls to trial for the role of second ruckman in the Hawks’ charge for a historic fourth straight premiership.

With Jon Ceglar out with a knee injury, Hawthorn named key position player Ryan Schoenmakers, two-game ruckman Mark Pittonet and former Demon Jack Fitzpatrick in its 25-man squad to face Collingwood on Sunday.

The Magpies named Travis Cloke at centre-half forward to replace the injured Darcy Moore while Brent Macaffer, who announced his retirement during the week, is on an extended interchange bench.

In other team news, the Bulldogs named Dale Morris, Matt Suckling and Will Minson among six possible inclusions, but Jake Stringer will play in the VFL again.

Sydney named Lance Franklin after he failed to train with the main group on Thursday. Franklin is battling a hip problem after copping a heavy knock against North Melbourne.

The Swans regain co-captain Kieren Jack but have lost Callum Mills to a calf injury.

Richmond has named another debutant in raw tall Mabior Chol.

Chol, who fled war-torn Sudan for Egypt with his family as a two-year-old, only took up the game seven years ago after moving to Brisbane.

Geelong named Jimmy Bartel, Josh Caddy and Daniel Menzel. Lachie Henderson is out with a knee injury and Shane Kersten and Darcy Lang were dropped.

“We managed Jimmy Bartel last week so he is an automatic back in,” Cats coach Brad Scott said on Thursday.

“It’s a subjective call, and it’s actually not as big a group as you would think that are an automatic selection.

“Even our top level players, if they have a period where they don’t play well enough for the team, there is a group of players that we think are ready to replace them.

“I can’t really raise a hypothetical for Jimmy, he’s in our best 22 this week but none of our players have a guarantee.”
