AFL: Izak Rankine emerging as the ‘most watchable footballer in the competition’

A legend of the game has showered a rising young star in stunning praise after he produced yet another highlight-reel finish.

A player that is going to get casual fans to dive into their wallets and head out the door to catch a glimpse of them in action.

Some clubs have several players that are a marketing departments dream, while other clubs can’t count themselves as lucky.

For the Gold Coast Suns they find themselves in the fortunate position of having several young stars on the list.

Izak Rankine already finds himself in the category of players in the AFL who has fans salivating over each and every piece of play they’re involved in.

On Wednesday night the mercurial young Sun was back at it again in the second quarter against the Bombers.

As the Suns surged towards goal, Rankine somehow found himself in a paddock of space as he turned for goal.

Rankine coasted towards the 50m arc before launching a goal that never looked like missing to give his side a 16-point advantage.

Brisbane Lions legend Jonathan Brown was quick to shower the exciting youngster in praise buy labelling him “the most watchable footballer in the competition already in his first season”.

Minutes later the dangerous forward bobbed up again on the back of a Lachie Weller shot at goal.

Floating in behind the pack, Rankine took the chest mark before quickly playing on and finding Ben Ainsworth who slotted the goal to take the lead back out to 16 points.

The young star, along with the injured Matt Rowell, is quickly becoming a fan favourite across the league and has already built a highlight-reel to make other long-time players jealous.
