AFL 2025: Rory Lobb, Jack Crisp avoid suspensions from Friday night thriller
The match review officer has released the findings from two incidents which occurred during Friday night’s intense thriller between Western Bulldogs and Collingwood.
Western Bulldogs defender Rory Lobb has escaped a suspension for his stray spoil on Collingwood’s Mason Cox.
Lobb was looked at by the match review officer (MRO) after he attempted to spoil the ball from Cox and struck the tall across the face.
The punch, which occurred in the fourth quarter, forced Cox to require stitches and withheld him from taking any further part in the game.
The AFL said: “It was the view of the MRO that Lobb made a genuine attempt to spoil and that it was not reasonably foreseeable his actions would result in a reportable offence being committed. No further action was taken.”
A suspension to Lobb would have been a huge blow to the Bulldogs who are set to face Carlton with both Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay on Friday night.
Collingwood’s Jack Crisp also avoided a ban for his dangerous tackle.
Crisp was at risk of losing his streak of 240 consecutive AFL games after he dump tackled Rhylee West.
Bulldog Ed Richards was fined for careless contact with an umpire while Magpie Beau McCreery was also fined for other misconduct on Lobb.
