AFL 2024: Bradley Hill stays at St Kilda on new three-year deal
With finals out of its reach, St Kilda has made a big decision on the playing future of its fourth-oldest player.
St Kilda wingman Bradley Hill is set to play on until he’s at least 34 after signing a new three-year deal on Tuesday.
Hill said he was “committed as ever” to helping the Saints rise up the ladder after securing the new contract.
The 31-year-old, who moved from Fremantle to St Kilda on a bumper five-year deal at the end of 2019, earnt the strong commitment from the Saints following another consistent campaign.
He has only missed a handful of games in his five seasons at Moorabbin.
St Kilda football boss David Misson praised the leadership Hill had to offer as the wingman prepared to play his 250th game against West Coast at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
“Bradley brings an enormous amount of leadership, speed and skill to our side. We’re very happy to have him commit to three more years at the club,” Misson said.
“His ability to provide high quality performances, week in, week out and always play his role for the team is what we love about Brad.”
Hill, who will also soon welcome his second child, said he believed in the direction of the club under Ross Lyon, who also coached him at Fremantle, where he played from 2017 to 2019.
“I’m very happy to continue my time at Moorabbin,” Hill said.
“I’ve been at the club for a few years now and am committed as ever to doing all I can to see us succeed.
“The more my career has gone on, I’ve tried to embrace my position as a leader and help drive us forward.
“I really believe in the direction we’re headed and am keen to play my role in getting us there.”
Hill joined Hawthorn after he was selected out of WA with pick 33 in 2011 national draft.
He immediately established himself in the Hawks’ senior side and played in all three premierships from 2013-15 before joining his brother Stephen at Fremantle via a trade.
A number of experienced Saints remain out of contract at the season’s end including unrestricted free agents Seb Ross, Tim Membrey and Jimmy Webster.
Important wing-forward Mason Wood is also yet to sign a new deal after he agreed to a one-year contract for 2024.
