Collingwood has confirmed Beau McCreery and Josh Carmichael will travel to Sydney for Saturday’s preliminary final despite being involved in a car accident on Friday.

McCreery, who is in the 22 for the game, and Carmichael, who is in the squad, were involved in the accident with another vehicle on the Monash Freeway in Melbourne while travelling to the airport.

The club said the pair were uninjured and would make their way to Sydney for the SCG clash.

“The welfare of Beau, Josh and the driver of the other vehicle remains the absolute priority,” Collingwood general manager football Graham Wright said in a statement.

“Neither Beau nor Josh sustained any injuries, and we will provide them with the support required in this situation.”

Collingwood’s charter flight to Sydney was delayed as a result after it was due to take off at 10am on Friday.
