Footy legend Garry Lyon has given his own club a roasting after a series of brain farts during a devastating Bulldogs blitzkrieg.

A series of brain farts has seen Jake Melksham come under fire from Demons legend Garry Lyon during a third quarter rampage from the Bulldogs.

Melksham’s blunders highlighted his club’s disastrous third quarter where the Dogs kicked six on the trot to blow the Demons away.

They went on to kick the Demons out of the eight and leapfrogged up to seventh on the ladder with a 12.8 (80) to 7.10 (52) win.

In a critical battle between two clubs scrapping for spots in the eight, the Demons’ season again appears at the crossroads.

The pain was compounded by a series of poor misses from the Demons — and a series of simple errors that proved costly.

Melksham, who finished with just one goal from four shots, gave away a critical 50m penalty when he lazily refused to backtrack while standing a mark on the wing.

When he refused to retreat it gifted Bailey Williams his first goal of the game and left the Demons out of touch late in the third term.

Lyon described the mistake as “really poor”.

“He’s got to comeback with the umpire, he should know better,” Lyon said in commentary for Fox Footy.

“I think Jake Melksham should know better. That’s really poor.”

Melksham was also baked for an earlier set shot miss when he lined up from just 30m out almost right in front but kicked into the stretched fingers of the man on the mark.

“That’s unforgivable from an experienced footy player,” Lyon said.

“You just have to look at Jake Melksham’s face. There’s no need for a review, let’s get on with the game.

“Disappointing miss in a game where goals are going to be hard to come by.”

Melksham responded by kicking a classy goal from outside 50m — but he couldn’t carry that form into the second half.

It came after the Demons were rocked by the late scratching of club veteran Nathan Jones in the warm-up.

Jones was at the last-minute dropped by the Demons after he suffered a quad injury in the warm up.

The 32-year-old was spotted punching a wall in the Demons’ dressing room after the injury.

The injury is reported to be minor, but it could likely cost Jones a chance to reach 300 career games before the end of the season.

Having played 292 games, Jones needs the Demons to go deep in the finals if he is to reach the milestone before he reaches the end of his contract at the end of the 2020 season.
