Adelaide forward Jared Petrenko set to play against Hawthorn after passing fitness test

CROWS hard nut Jared Petrenko seems certain to play in tomorrow's preliminary final against Hawthorn.

CROWS hard nut Jared Petrenko seems certain to play in tomorrow's preliminary final against Hawthorn after being put through a searching fitness test this morning.

Soon after undergoing some tough physical drills and tackling exercises behind closed doors at AAMI Stadium, Petrenko tweeted: "Thankyou for all the tweets this week! Sorry I couldn't confirm earlier but now I just can't wait to run onto the 'G' with 21 of my best mates''.

Petrenko dislocated his right shoulder late in Adelaide's 10-point semi-final win against Fremantle last Friday night.

Crows coach Brenton Sanderson said he desperately wants his best pressure forward to play against the Hawks but wouldn't risk him unless he is close to 100 per cent fit.

Port Adelaide great Warren Tredrea says Adelaide should play Petrenko regardless, comparing his importance to the Crows side to that of Power defender Michael Wilson's in its 2004 premiership win.

Wilson painfully played through the finals with two shredded shoulders which needed reconstuctions at the end of the season.

"Without their human battering ram running wild and trying to disrupt the classy Hawks defence, Adelaide's chances of an upset - already slim - will nosedive," Tredrea said
