North cull $3.5m flop Jared Polec for the second time
After signing a lucrative contract to return to Victoria, this AFL star failed to deliver and after only 42 games has been cut loose.
The first of the AFL’s second chance windows opens for a week from Thursday, when delisted free agents can officially sign with a new club.
That period is followed by the list lodgement deadline on November 10 for players to retire and out-of-contract players to nominate for the drafts, which run between November 28 and 30.
Delisted free agents can also sign with teams from November 11 to 15.
Teams swung the axe in ruthless fashion at the end of the 2022 season with a plethora of players delisted.

The biggest move however came at the hands of North Melbourne who severed ties with Jared Polec.
After playing less than 50 games in four seasons at North Melbourne following a big-money move from Port Adelaide, Polec has been delisted for a second, and final, time
Polec crossed to the Kangaroos on a five-year deal worth a reported $3.5m after requesting a trade from Port, which was his second club after the midfielder began his career at Brisbane.
What seemed a coup for the club started well, with the left-footer playing every game in his first season at Arden Street in 2019, and he finished seventh in the best and fairest.
But things went pear-shaped for Polec, and the club, after that and a combination of injuries and poor form kept him to just 18 matches over the following two seasons.
North delisted him at the end of 2021, but Polec was redrafted onto the rookie list ahead of last season.
North Melbourne delisted four players, including Jed Anderson and leadership group member Kayne Turner.
Veteran Josh Walker and Atu Bosenavulagi were also released from the wooden spooners, who lost No. 1 draft pick Jason Horne-Francis during the trade period.
