MARCEL Kittel - regarded as the fastest sprinter in road cycling - arrived in Adelaide on Friday declaring there's no weight on his shoulders to prove he is lightning quick.

The Argos-Shimano sprint gun is preparing for his second Santos Tour Down Under after enjoying his 2013 maiden event in South Australia.

"That's for me always to be in the best shape,'' said Kittel, 25, after revealing he had two sleepless nights during his journey to Adelaide after a flight from Amsterdam was delayed.

"Also for myself and also I want to do my best with them."

Kittel's team also arrived in good company with some of Cadel Evans' BMC Racing team also arriving in Adelaide today.

The team is waiting for Evans to return to Adelaide from Australia's national road cycling championships in Victoria after revealing Swiss rider Steve Marabito, 30, was already in SA.

Morabito arrived in Adelaide after BMC Racing's team pre season camp in Spain last month.

He has been undergoing a specific conditioning program in SA since leaving his teammates in Europe.
