PAUL Roos’ wife Tami has emerged as an unlikely weapon in his bid to soothe the frayed nerves of his players.

Tami is working at Melbourne as a meditation consultant under Demons fitness boss David Misson.

Roos has made no secret of the fact he sees coaching as a family pursuit, but Tami’s work at Melbourne is no token hire. She is the author of two books — one with her husband — and has a degree in parapsychic science from the American Institute of Holistic Theology.

She has taught meditation for a decade. Her book, The Gift: Presence to Power, is for people who want to “slow down, gain clarity and experience more calm in their life”.

KING COULD BE KEY FOR DEES

WHY THE DEMONS NEEDED ROOS

Roos told said former Sydney fitness boss Misson had asked Tami to help out at Melbourne.

“She is doing some meditation,” Roos said. “She did her PhD on meditation, and she has done a lot of work with schoolkids at (exclusive Sydney boarding school) Cranbrook, and at the Swans, and Dave Misson asked her to come and do work with the players,” Roos said.

News_Rich_Media: Melbourne fans will have to wait a little longer to see exciting teenager Jesse Hogan in action in 2014. After having a run in an intra-club match, Hogan will sit out Friday's NAB Challenge clash with Richmond at Etihad Stadium.

Roos had made no secret of the fact Melbourne players’ need to heal from the mental scars of their past few seasons.

Former captain Jack Trengove has also had to deal with an ASADA investigation after being accused of using the controversial cream AOD-9604.

Roos said on Saturday he believed Trengove would be cleared by ASADA.

“I think so. I was before I arrived, but I had one conversation where I asked (the administration) if it was fine and I was assured it was. A lot of stuff is out of your control, but I think everything will be fine with him.”

Melbourne doctor Dan Bates was stood down over his interaction with controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank, but again Roos said he did not believe action was pending from the AFL or ASADA.

“No, I don’t think so. I think everything is fine from our point view.’’

Roos said he was determined to make his time at Melbourne a family experience and his younger son Tyler will play with the Sandringham Dragons.

“Tyler is enjoying being down here, he joined the Sandringham Dragons which he’s excited about. Tyler umpired the intra-club practice game last week with Brett Allison. He’s 17 and he has a much greater appreciation of where footy is at here.

“(Older son) Dylan was down last week and Jesse Hogan jumped on his back with the marking bag. The young bloke fell into that. Jesse just punched him to the ground (with a high mark).

“The Sydney thing was a family thing, the Melbourne thing has to be a family thing.”
