ZAC Efron is reportedly "healthy and happy" after an alleged stint in rehab.

The 25-year-old actor is said to have been treated at a facility five months ago and has thrown himself back into his work.

The former High School Musical star is believed to have kept problems with alcohol well under wraps, according to E! News.

"He's healthy, happy and not drinking," one source told the publication. "He's taking time to focus on working."

Zac recently appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of motion picture Parkland.

While speaking about the upcoming fresh ensemble drama the star was in good spirits about his future, telling E!,

"I'm good, real good."

The flick is about the three days surrounding John F Kennedy's death in Dallas, Texas and reaches cinemas from October 4.

The heart-throb portrays, Jim Carrico, the doctor who was only 28 years old and in his initial year as a surgical resident when he became the first person to examine Kennedy at Parkland Memorial Hospital when the president was shot in Dealey Plaza.

Later this year he acts in Neighbors, where he plays an unruly frat boy opposite Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne.

In January he stars in comedy That Awkward Moment, about a group of young men who promise to stay eligible bachelors. The flick also features Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan.

Zac shared at TIFF that he never gets used to the attention that comes with his fame.

"No, you can't," he admitted about feeling comfortable. "It's all ridiculous. It's cool."
