Qantas plane makes emergency landing in Darwin
A Qantas flight has had to make an emergency landing in Darwin after complications on board
A QANTAS flight has been forced to make an emergency landing in Darwin after complications on board.
A Qantas spokesman said a fault developed about an hour into the flight and the captain made the decision to return to Darwin.
St John Ambulances were called to Darwin Airport as a precaution.
Vince Ashe, a passenger on board the flight from Darwin to Brisbane said they departed at 1.35pm and he noticed from the beginning that the cabin was hot.
He said they were notified by the captain that one of the airconditioners wasn’t working and the other was struggling.
“Due to not being able to fix the aircon we had to return and they had dropped to a safer level because at the height we were flying at we were going to lose oxygen, so we dropped from 40,000ft to 10,000ft,” he said.
The 172 passengers on-board and six crew are expected to depart at 10.25pm local time on another Boeing 737-80.
