More than 20 Northern Territory businesses will travel to Sydney next month to showcase their defence and maritime capabilities at an international exposition.

Indo Pacific 2023 International Maritime Exposition will take place from November 7-9.

Indo Pacific provides an opportunity for businesses to develop a greater understanding of Defence’s evolving requirements and priorities in the region while promoting the capacity and capability of the Territory’s defence industry.

DefenceNT is leading the Northern Territory delegation, which includes 23 local co-exhibitors.

Attendance at the expo reinforces the Territory’s strategic relationship with our Indo-Pacific neighbours, our role in supporting defence initiatives and importantly, our aim to attract new investment through promoting the NT’s maintenance, supply and infrastructure capability and capacity.

It also allows the opportunity to showcase key NT projects, including the Darwin Ship Lift and the Marine Industry Park, to Australian and international contractors and suppliers.

Territory businesses will be given the opportunity to promote their products and processes during the three-day event through business discussions and networking.

The delegation includes representatives from Micks Ally Fab, Baldwin Group, Territory Instruments, Norship, Shorebarge, ENZED Service Centre Darwin, Marine Technicians Australia, Frontier Marine, Griffin Marine, NMIS, TEC Automation, Safety Direct Solutions, Draeger, Life h2o, SeaSwift, Fire and Safety Australia, Complete Maintenance and Engineering, Oceantec, Diverseco, Steeline GRP Darwin, Northern Ship Support, Chamber of Commerce NT, Industry Capability Network NT and the Office of Defence Industry Support.

Dave Pears from Frontier Marine and Marine Technicians Australia said the opportunity to be involved in the NT Indo Pacific 2023 delegation would help with navigating opportunities across Australia’s defence market.

“Having all the key defence and industry players in the room provides a unique advantage to engage with Royal Australian Navy, contractors and key suppliers.

“It’s also beneficial to work together with other local providers and DefenceNT, so we can showcase the advantages of the Territory’s location for Defence operations, as well as the skills and services we can provide here on the ground.”

The diverse group will work together to promote the NT’s industrial maintenance, supply and infrastructure capability and capacity.

The Northern Territory is a trusted partner for Defence and it plays a crucial role in supporting training, basing and sustainment of the Australian Defence Force, Allies and Regional Partners.

Our strategic location at the cross roads of the Indo-Pacific reinforces the Territory’s integral role in the implementation of the Commonwealth’s Defence Strategic Review announced earlier this year.

Indo Pacific 2022 featured more than 25,000 visitor attendances across the three days, with exhibitors from 23 countries.

The event has been running for more than two decades, and this year’s meeting is on track to be the largest to date.
