Alula Advance+ Toddler study reveals NT parents could do more to improve toddlers diet
Lack of information, time and creativity are some of the issues stopping parents from providing their toddlers their nutritional best, a new study has found.
New research has revealed 80 per cent of Northern Territory parents admit they could be doing more to support their toddler’s nutritional intake – the highest figure across all states and territories.
Research commissioned by Alula Advance+ Toddler examined a survey sample of more than 1000 Australian parents with children aged between one and five years of age, revealing 74 per cent of parents believed they could do more to support their toddler’s diet.
In the Territory, it was determined a whopping 80 per cent of parents could do more to improve their toddler’s nutrition.
When asked what prevented parents from serving their children a nutritious meal, one in five toddler parents claimed they lacked creativity or simply did not have enough information, with 41 per cent of parents citing lack of time as an obstacle.
Further, 84 per cent parents said they did not consider digestive health as their top priority when trying to support their toddler’s immune system.
In raising awareness around the importance of a balanced and nutritional diet, Alula Advance+ Toddler has partnered with MasterChef alumni Tommy Pham to launch the new Alula Toddler Tummies Cookbook, aimed at encouraging parents to create healthy, flavoursome meals.
Mr Pham said parents were often “overwhelmed” on the issue of digestive health.
“With so much to think about when supporting a toddler’s nutritional intake, we’re often overwhelmed when it comes to knowing how to prioritise their digestive health. Including prebiotic-rich foods in their everyday diet can be a great way to support the growth of good bacteria and nurture their digestive wellbeing,” he said.
“Each recipe in this book is specially designed to introduce foods naturally high in prebiotics and Alula Advance+ Toddler milk drink with prebiotic FOS.”
