Victoria Police release CCTV footage of Finks boss’ Frankston home under attack
Brent James Reker is a man you don’t want to mess with. But that didn’t stop a stunning, brazen attack on the Finks boss and his family.
Heavily tattooed Finks bikie boss Brent James Reker was asleep inside his Frankston home on May 31 last year when a unknown man torched his car and an accomplice fired round after round in his direction.
Reker, 33, his wife and their baby were unharmed in the shooting. So too were two adults and two children under four in the home next door which was sprayed inadvertently before the shooters fled.
The incident was captured on CCTV cameras attached to the Reker home, 55km southeast of the Melbourne CBD.
Vision released by detectives from Victoria Police’s anti-gangs Echo Taskforce today shows a parked car at the property burst into flames before a man runs back to the driver’s seat of a waiting vehicle.
As he starts the car, several shots are fired from the back driver’s side with a high-powered weapon.
Police say a vehicle, believed to be the getaway car, was located 10 minutes later at nearby Carramar Drive in Frankston. It had been set alight.
“The fire is being treated as suspicious and police believe the two incidents are linked,” a police spokeswoman said.
In releasing the footage today, police hope somebody will recognise the men or the vehicle. As part of their investigation, detectives are checking ballistic matches from the shots fired at the house with firearms that have been seized by police.
Reker is the former WA Finks Sergeant-at-Arms. He was tasked with starting new chapters in Victoria.
Reker is currently facing charges over an alleged aggravated home invasion last September. Police allege Reker and associates stormed a home in Hampton Park with a tyre iron.
Victorian chapter vice-president Corey Wanakore-Moeke, 33, allegedly took part in the home invasion after the pair were enlisted by another co-accused, Tara Egglestone.
It is alleged Ms Egglestone, 29, reached out to Reker in a bid for retaliation after naked photos of her were posted online.
