Melbourne body found: Suspected murder in CBD apartment

A man’s body has been found inside an apartment building in Melbourne’s CBD overnight with multiple stab wounds. It’s being treated as murder.

Victoria’s homicide squad are investigating the death of 22-year-old man whose body was found in a Melbourne CBD apartment last night, with multiple stab wounds.

Emergency services were called to an apartment building on La Trobe St about 11pm, after reports of an assault, according to Ambulance Victoria.

However, they were unable to save the injured man, who had succumbed to his stab wounds.

A 22-year-old Williamstown man was arrested a short distance from the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries, police said in a statement.

A crime scene has been established with detectives working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Several police units can be seen outside the an apartment building at 673 La Trobe St, where the man was discovered last night.

Police are guarding the entrance to the Lacrosse Residences building.
