‘You will die in Raqqa’, US warns Australian IS fighter ‘Dr Jihad’
THE Australian fighting with IS in Syria has a death sentence on his head. The US says he will die in Raqqa.
PERTH-born “Dr Jihad” and IS poster-boy Tareq Kamleh will die in Syria, a leading US official has declared.
Tareq Kamleh, known as “Dr Jihad” or the “Playboy doctor” in mainstream media, fled Australia to fight with Islamic State two years ago, and this week appeared in a new video, calling on would-be terrorists to “fight for the cause anywhere”.
In the video Kamleh carries a machine gun and wears a bullet proof vest in what some reports describe as a tunnel under Raqqa.
And it is there, he and other IS fighters will die, according to high-ranking US government official Brett McGurk.
McGurk’s stark warning came during an interview in Raqqa in which the special envoy for the anti-ISIS coalition said any foreign IS fighters still in the city, which is besieged by US-backed forces, will soon be killed.

“The mission is to make sure ... that any foreign fighter who is here, who joined ISIS from a foreign country, who came into Syria, they will die here in Syria,” McGurk told journalist Jenan Moussa, a reporter for Arabic Al Aan TV.
“If they are in Raqqa they are going to die in Raqqa.”
In the IS video, Kamleh challenged US president Donald Trump, saying Islamic State were “eagerly awaiting your attempt” to put troops on the ground in the Middle East.
MGurk told the journalist most “high value” IS targets had already fled. If Dr Jihad is still there, he is slated to die.
