Vegan activist Jack Higgs trolled after arrest
A vegan influencer and his partner have recorded themselves giving a police officer a spray after one was arrested at a pony show.
A vegan influencer and his girlfriend have recorded themselves giving a police officer a spray after they were arrested in Western Australia.
Viral vegan Jack Higgs, who once decreed “true masculinity is not eating animals”, is shown posturing face-to-face in the opening frames of his latest YouTube video as the officer asks him to move on from a demonstration.
“This isn’t going to look good, is it? This isn’t going to look good, is it?” Higgs repeats to the officer as he tries to get his details.
In the video, police tell Higgs he is being moved on for “annoying everyone” and “hassling members of the public”.
Higgs argues but is quickly told by an officer, “We’ve had many number of complaints about your behaviour today.”
He was given a move-on notice when he and his activist partner, Tash Peterson, kicked-off.
“It’s enslavement,” Higgs says.
Higgs is given one last warning to leave and after a short refusal, an officer arrests the activist.
“Tyrant!” one of his supporters yells.
“You’re disgusting,” Peterson joins in.
“Do you realise how disgusting this is going to look? Absolute tyrant,” Higgs tells the officer.
“The way he’s pulling me right now is just disgusting. What a horrible person.”
Despite his fellow activists believing Higgs was unfairly detained, the comment section of his TikTok disagreed.
Some said it was apparent he wasn’t leaving despite being ordered to.
“’We’re Leaving’ – proceeded to stand still – are you guys actors?” one person inquired.
“Interesting definition of ‘leaving’,” another added.
“I don’t think this video hits the way you thought it would,” another jokes.
Others commended the police for moving the group on from what appeared to be a children’s pony show.
“Best cop I’ve seen,” one TikTok commenter said.
“You baited the cop into arresting you, told to leave over a number of minutes, you knew exactly what you were up to in ignoring him,” one person said on YouTube.
However, to some others, Higgs and Peterson are “heroes”.
“They enjoy arresting people for no reason. It gives them a feeling of unlimited power. It’s a shame they don’t treat the real criminals like that,” one supporter said.
“Good work Jack and Tash!” another said.
