Urgent hunt for convicted child sex offender Tyrone Corbett in Perth

Police are desperately searching for a dangerous convicted child sex offender with “violent tendencies” who cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet.

A manhunt is underway for a convicted child sex offender who cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet last Friday.

WA Police have embarked on a desperate search for Tyrone Corbett who removed his electronic monitoring bracelet on Friday 24 March and left his residence.

He was last seen in East Victoria Park on Monday.

Members of the public who see Mr Corbett should not approach him due to his “violent tendencies” and should call police immediately on 131 444.

Detectives are now searching for 44-year-old Tyronne Corbett.

Police are calling for help to find Corbett, describing him as 168cm tall with a medium build, greying moustache and goatee and a bald head.

He was released from prison in February and is classes as a “recidivist offender”, meaning he is considered at risk of reoffending.

However, Detective Acting Inspector John Mottolini of Sex Crime Division said that up until he removed the electronic monitor there was “no indication that he was likely to commit this offence or to cut his bracelet off”, but its removal has sparked serious concern.

“Detectives from the serious Offender Management squad did visit him that morning, and did speak to him but there was no indication that he was likely to behave like this,” he said.

“We always have concerns of somebody or this person of nature, you know, he is a declared or high risk serious offender.”

It’s alleged Corbett had been involved with a burglary offence in the Balga area in Perth shortly after he left his home on Friday.

“We believe he is a dangerous person, he has got convictions for serious offences and some of those offences are sexually related offences and we do have concerns that he may commit further offences,” Inspector Mottolini said.

He was last seen wearing a black Metallica hoodie.

Police believe he is still in the Perth metropolitan area and say “it’s only a matter of time until he’s located”.

“We are closing in on his location. We urge him to hand himself into the nearest police station,” Inspector Mottolini said.
