Three people, including two teenagers, have suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’ from one common cause.

Three people, including two teenage boys, are in hospital with “serious, life-threatening injuries” after a horrific night of crashes involving e-scooters on Perth roads.

Western Australia police say that two e-scooters – each with a rider and a passenger, were being ridden in Butler, northern Perth at 1.45am on Sunday, when one scooter collided with a car.

Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were thrown from the scooter and taken to hospital with “serious, life-threatening injuries” after they came off the scooter.

They were rushed to Joondalup Health Campus and were expected to be transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was not seriously injured.

The crash came hours after a separate incident involving a 32-year-old man in Perth’s CBD.

Police say the man was on an e-scooter when he collided with a Hyundai Elantra at 10.30pm.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, while the driver of the car was not seriously hurt.

Police say both vehicles received “significant damage” in the crash.

WA Police are urging anyone with information regarding either crash, including witnesses who saw the e-scooters being ridden or the cars being driven before the crashes, to contact them.

The crashes come after the state government rolled out new regulations relating to e-scooters in December last year.

Users are limited to a speed of 10km/h on footpaths and 25km/h on bicycle paths, shared paths, and local roads with a speed limit of less than 50km/h.

Children under 16 are unable to use e-scooters capable of maximum speeds over 10km/h.
