Teenagers let off with warning after shocking aquarium act posted to social media
Two teens have been let off with a warning after a social media post showed them fishing out of a pool at an aquarium.
Two teenagers have been issued a warning by police after they filmed themselves fishing out of a tank at a Perth aquarium.
In a now-deleted video on TikTok earlier this week, the teens filmed themselves fishing out of an exhibit at the Aquarium of Western Australia.
WA Police said in a statement that two boys were alleged to have trespassed into the aquarium on Monday afternoon before being caught by a staff member.
“Hillarys Police issued two boys a juvenile caution in relation to a trespass incident at AQWA on Monday, 22 July 2024,” a WA police spokesman said.
“It is alleged the boys (11 and 13) entered the grounds of the aquarium and commenced fishing in an exhibit pool, before being disturbed by a staff member.”
In the video, one person climbs onto the skirting of the pool and begins casting a line into the water.
In another shot, the person’s fishing rod bends as they reel in a catch.
AQWA has said that additional security has been put in place following the incident.
