Stinger
A dramatic police pursuit ended in a Balga shopping centre carpark overnight after the allegedly stolen vehicle blew a tyre when officers deployed a stinger.
Police have charged two men after a dramatic pursuit through Balga overnight that ended in a shopping centre carpark after the allegedly stolen vehicle blew a tyre.
It is alleged that about 9pm on Friday two cars were stolen from a property on Hemsey Street in Balga, one of which, a Nissan Micra, was a short time later involved in a police pursuit.
Officers used a stinger to stop the Micra which then blew a tyre, with the driver pulling into the carpark on Princess Road and eventually boxed in by police vehicles.
A 30-year-old man from the allegedly stolen vehicle was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for treatment for cuts sustained from broken glass.
Two men have been charged with aggravated home burglary, stealing and stealing a motor vehicle. No charges have yet been laid over the pursuit.
The second stolen vehicle, a Nissan Pulsar, has not been recovered.
