Ryan Ashley Darken pleads guilty to kidnapping 9yo girl

A tradie has pleaded guilty to kidnapping a 9yo girl on her walk to school before dumping her outside an IGA with her hands bound with cable ties.

The man who snatched a nine-year-old girl on her walk to school before dumping her outside an IGA supermarket in WA has pleaded guilty to kidnapping.

Ryan Ashley Darken, 38, appeared at Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday via video-link where he pleaded guilty to the incident in Warnbro in July.

He admitted to deprivation of liberty, detaining another with intent to prevent or hinder a person from doing an act and making a threat to unlawfully to do an act.

The victim’s family were in court and could be heard sobbing, The West reports.

Ryan Ashley Darken has pleaded guilty to snatching schoolgirl on her way to school.

Darken lured the victim into his silver ute at around 8.25am on July 21 before leaving her outside an IGA supermarket with her hands bound by cable ties a short while later.

News of the incident spread after the girl’s mother took to social media to plea for help after someone saw her daughter being taken near her school.

Police officers swarmed the area and Darken was arrested and charged.

Speaking outside court the victim's mother said: “I’m glad there was a guilty plea to all charges and I’m hoping for the maximum sentence.”

Darken is also facing two drug-related charges but was not required to enter a plea for those on Friday.

Darken will face Perth District Court for sentencing in January.
