Relief as missing teenager Andrew Howlett found ‘safe and well’ in Western Australia

A boy who has been missing in Western Australia for over a week has been found alive and well.

A teenage boy who was missing for more than one week in Western Australia has been found “safe and well”.

Police had concerns for the welfare of Andrew Howlett, 13, who ran away after his mother dropped him off at school on Monday last week.

Andrew was seen later that day leaving a friend’s house in Greenfields, south of Perth, but again ran away from his mother.

He was then in communication with his father a couple of days later but he did not return home, which was considered out of character.

Police sought the community’s support to find Andrew, with his mother Misha Guy also pleading for his safe return home.

“I just don’t know ... what else that I can do to try to find him, and I don’t know if he’s in danger or if he’s somewhere OK,” she told reporters.

“I’m just starting to think bad now because it’s been so long, and I’m trying not to because I want him to be OK but I just don’t know anymore.”

Andrew had vanished without any money, phone or other belongings.

Ms Guy said she had not been eating or sleeping since her son ran away, which she suspected was because he thought he was in trouble for wagging school.

“My head just keeps going around in circles,” she said.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that he had been found “safe and well”.
