Police identify man found floating in Swan River near Crown

Authorities believe the 36-year-old may have drowned on Monday but will wait on an autopsy report to confirm cause of death.

Police have identified the man whose body was found floating in the Swan River yesterday but have yet to notify next of kin of his death.

It is believed the man may have drowned as there was a strong current in the water on Monday, however police are waiting on an autopsy report to confirm cause of death.

Police said circumstances surrounding the death did not appear suspicious.

It is understood the man, a 36-year-old from the Perth CBD, was receiving mental health treatment.

It is believed he was last seen or heard from on Monday.

Police were notified at 1pm yesterday of the dead body in the water along the Burswood foreshore near the Matagarup Bridge after it was spotted by WA Show Ski team member George Petley.

Perth Detectives are still conducting inquiries surrounding the circumstances of the man’s death.
