Perth couple face dozens of sex charges over own children

A Perth couple at the centre of a horrific child sex ring has faced court each charged with dozens of offences, some involving their own children.

A Perth couple at the centre of a horrific child sex ring which involved the alleged sexual abuse of their own children have both had their cases adjourned.

The 39-year-old woman, who appeared in the Perth Magistrates court via video link from Bandyup Prison on Thursday, is facing 93 charges over allegations she repeatedly sexually abused both her children and a teenage girl between 2011 and 2016.

It’s understood the woman’s daughter was only five years old when the abuse started and her son was four.

One of the charges the woman is facing is she allegedly drugged and raped her daughter when she was only eight years old.

The woman, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victims, was not required to enter a plea and her case was adjourned until February 21.

She was first charged by police in February, after it obtained recordings which showed the woman, her husband and their friend abusing her daughter when she was just eight years old.

The couple appeared in Perth Magistrates Court, each facing dozens of charges.

The woman’s husband, who is stepfather to the two children, appeared via video link from Casuarina Prison on Thursday, charged with 79 offences. His charges include two counts of sexual relationships with a child and two counts of indecently dealing with a child under the age of 13.

It’s alleged the 45-year-old sexually assaulted both his stepchildren, and a 14-year-old girl between 2011 and 2016.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is also facing charges of sexually abusing his own two daughters between 2001 and 2006, who were both aged four at the time of the alleged offence.

Police allege the man and his 39-year-old wife took their children to so called “swingers” parties, where the couple and other adults sexually abused them.

He was also not required to enter a plea and his case was adjourned until February 21.

In April, he pleaded guilty to four charges of abusing his stepdaughter.

In August, the woman pleaded guilty to 17 charges including sexual penetration of a child under 13, indecent dealing with a child and indecently recording a child.

A 56-year-old friend of the couple has also been charged over the alleged gang rape of the eight-year-old girl.
