A man who sent his ex-lover’s family sexual images of her and uploaded content to a porn website, threatening to “ruin” the woman, has been sentenced to 20 months in a WA prison.

Armandeep Singh, 36, pleaded guilty under the state’s so-called revenge porn laws, in a case a WA District Court judge described as “a form of domestic violence” and bullying.

Singh, an immigration detention centre guard, was assisting with the deportation of a detainee when he met the victim, who was a flight attendant, in February 2016.

His wife later learnt about the affair, but he convinced her that he had ended the relationship, while also indicating to the victim that he would leave his wife, the court heard on Friday.

Both women learnt the truth in December, then Singh sent many threatening messages to the victim, including one that said: “I want to abuse you ... I will ruin you.”

Singh then sent sexual images of the woman to her family and employer, and uploaded content to a porn website, including sharing her personal details.

He then filed a complaint with her employer, accusing her of “prostituting herself” to him and arranging for her colleagues to have sex with customers too.

In her victim impact statement, the woman said the crime had affected her relationship with her family.

Judge Mark Herron described Singh’s crime as planned and vicious.

“Your actions were intended to cause (the woman) distress, humiliation, embarrassment and outrage, and to offend her family. They were sent to punish,” he said.

“Your behaviour was persistent, menacing and harassing.”

But Judge Herron accepted Singh was remorseful and unlikely to reoffend.

Singh, who is getting divorced from his wife, must serve at least 10 months behind bars before he can walk free on parole.
