Man faces Perth court charged with criminal damage after faeces and urine were allegedly found inside cars

A series of vehicle break-ins allegedly involved a man filming himself doing something very gross inside the cars, police say.

A man has faced a Perth court over a series of vehicle break-ins during which police allege he filmed himself leaving faeces and urine inside the cars.

Samuel John Baxter, 34, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with four counts of criminal damage over several incidents spanning three years in Como.

Police said during an unrelated investigation in October last year they seized several electronic devices that allegedly had more than 60 videos believed to have been filmed in Western Australia.

“These videos depict a man entering and damaging several vehicles by leaving bodily fluids in the vehicles,” police said in a statement on Thursday.

Four of the videos have been matched to alleged incidents reported to police.

In the first alleged incident in October 2018, a window on a black Mazda 3 sedan was smashed on Melville Parade in Como. Nothing significant was stolen.

The following February, a window was allegedly shattered on a red Mazda 3 sedan on Labouchere Road in Como.

Again, no items of note were stolen, but some damage was caused to the car’s body and door trim, police said.

In the third alleged incident in July 2019, a window was smashed on a blue Mazda CX-5 SUV on Robert Street in Como.

Nothing significant was stolen, but some damage was caused to the car’s paintwork, police said.

In November 2020, a blue Honda Accord sedan was allegedly entered via unknown means on Canning Highway in Como.

“No items of note were stolen; however, faeces and urine was spread across the inside of the vehicle and one of the front seats had been sliced open,” police said.

Mr Baxter was not required to enter a plea during his court appearance.

He was released on bail to reappear in court on April 15.

Detectives are still trying to identify the vehicles in the other videos.
