A man has been charged with murder after an intellectually disabled man was allegedly beaten to death outside a train station in Perth.
Officers were called to Queens Park station just before 6am Monday to reports a man had been brutally assaulted.
Alan Thomas, 70, was found with serious injuries. He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital but could not be saved, WA Today reports.
Police said Mr Thomas, who was intellectually disabled, was on his way to work at a charity shop when he was attacked.
Devastating pictures from the scene show Mr Thomas’s packed lunch and his hat scattered on the train tracks, with police dressed in forensic suits examining the scene closely.
A 52-year-old Mount Claremont man has been charged with one count of murder.
He is due to front Perth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Early investigations suggest Mr Thomas did not know his killer.
