A Perth man is being forced to make a court appearance from his hospital bed after he was shot in the chest by police yesterday.
The 51-year-old has now been charged with a number of offences including assault following the confrontation.
Police arrived at a Bentley home about 9.30am on Saturday before gunshots were heard by neighbours and an ambulance arrived to rush the man to Royal Perth Hospital.
“I just woke up, it was around 9am in the morning,” one neighbour told 7 News.
“I heard a boom sound, it was really loud.”
Following the shooting, the man was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
He has since been charged with breaching a restraining order, assault with intent to prevent the arrest of a person and two counts of endangering life.
He underwent surgery upon his arrival at Royal Perth Hospital, but police confirmed he is now in a stable condition in time for his court appearance.
