A knife-wielding man allegedly terrorised customers and pushed over a staff member at a suburban supermarket in Perth.

The man, 38, was taken into custody after reportedly threatening shoppers and employees at the Ellenbrook Coles on Thursday morning.

Police allege the man entered the supermarket through a rear entrance armed with a knife around 8.20am, with a witness reporting he had been “screaming at people to get out”.

A staff member was pushed over during the ordeal and sustained minor injuries, police say, while shoppers managed to escape.

People have asked anyone who captured images or video to submit them to WA Police.
