Man, 33, tasered by police after allegedly fleeing 200km from scene where woman found dead in Perth

A man has been charged with the alleged murder of his 61-year-old mother after he was arrested about 200km away, with police deploying tasers to subdue him.

A man has been charged with the murder of his 61-year-old mother after she was found dead in her home in Perth’s southeast.

Police were called to a home in the Perth suburb of Byford about 7.05pm on Sunday following reports a woman had been seriously injured.

The 61-year-old was found dead by emergency services who arrived at the scene.

Her son, 33, has since been charged with murder.

Police will allege in court the man fled the scene in a silver Peugot station sedan and was not seen by police until 9.15pm, 200km north of the crime scene in the rural town of Moora.

A WA Police spokeswoman said the man failed to stop after emergency lights and sirens were activated.

The man was stopped in the town of Bindi Bindi – 40km east of Moora – when police deployed a tyre deflation device along the Great Northern Highway.

Tasers were deployed after he allegedly began acting aggressively and challenging police.

He was taken into custody and will appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
