The Australian Maritime Safety Authority found Jordan Guerts, 18, and brother Tyson, 12, off Western Australia’s north coast yesterday.
The brothers, who did not have food or water, were found at 1pm around 30km west of Learmounth, having spent 21 hours at sea.
They were taken to Exmouth Hospital with mild dehydration and were later released in good health despite spending the night on open water, 9 News reported.
The brothers were on a camping trip when they set out fishing, and left South Lefroy Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
However the pair soon ran out of fuel and were left drifting with no emergency devices on board.
Concerned family members raised the alarm after they failed to return to camp a few hours later.
A major sea and land search was conducted and the pair were found more than 70km from their intended return point at Ningaloo Station yesterday.
Water Police Acting Sergeant Brendan Packard said it was important boat operators had emergency equipment and were able to set off an alert if they ran into trouble.
