A bystander on the footpath was narrowly missed by the car, jumping out of the way as the vehicle swerved back towards to the road.

WA Police Acting Inspector of road policing command Steve Walters said the incident was “horrific”.

“(The driver) has taken out a couple of gardens and nearly took out an innocent bystander,” he said in a press conference.

“These driving behaviours are not acceptable to us.”

No charges have been laid and the investigation remains ongoing, police confirmed.

The footage has emerged following WA Police’s blitz on speeding drivers, with more than 500 motorists slapped with infringements, 469 of which were for speeding.

“The message remains simple, don’t speed,” Inspector Walters said.

“Unfortunately, some people still believe it’s okay to travel over the speed limit, thinking that nothing bad will happen to them.”

In an unrelated incident, police captured and impounded a white Toyota coupe at the intersection of The Broadway and Galatea Pass in Ellenbrook at about 11.25am on Sunday, March 23.

Police allege the male motorist was driving 110km/h in a 60km/h zone.

He was charged with one count of reckless driving an will appear before court at a later date.

The same day at about 4.40pm, authorities impounded a white Holden Barina, after the male driver was allegedly travelling 109km/h in a 60kmh zone.

He was charged via summons with one count of reckless driving and will also appear at court at a later date.

“We continue to urge motorists to drive safe at all times, keep in mind the safety of yourself and others, and to have those discussions with your loved ones about the tragic events that can occur when people fall victim to the major causes of fatal crashes,” Inspector Walters said.

“One life lost on our roads is one too many.

“Driving behaviours, especially motorists who decide to hoon, remains at our forefront.”
