A P-plate hoon clocked driving 183km/h with two teenage passengers in his car has been charged with reckless driving and had the vehicle impounded for 28 days.

A P-plate hoon clocked driving 183km/h with two teenage passengers in his car has been charged with reckless driving and had the vehicle impounded for 28 days.

Police allege the 17-year-old from Golden Bay was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry that was more than 80km/h over the speed limit while driving south on the Dawesville Bypass about 10pm on Friday.

It is alleged the boy did a U-turn and sped away from police before being stopped.

Once stopped, officers discovered two passengers in the Camry aged just 15. The alleged driver was on his P-plates.

All three were taken to Mandurah Police Station where officers called the driver’s parents.

He has been charged with reckless driving and will face court at a later date while the car was impounded for 28 days.
