‘Get tested’: WA Premier Mark McGowan’s blunt message to close contacts
Hundreds of casual contacts are yet to be tested in Western Australia as the Premier urges people to ‘do the right thing’.
Western Australia recorded zero new local Covid-19 infections on Tuesday despite many close contacts still yet to be tested.
Just nine cases have so far been linked to the French backpacker at the centre of the state’s most recent outbreak.
As of Tuesday morning, 46 people deemed close contacts and 243 casual contacts were yet to be tested.
“Our contact tracing team is working to identify exposure sites and follow up contacts – but we need you to do the right thing and get tested,” Premier Mark McGowan said on social media.
“If you have been to an exposure site you need to come forward immediately.”
In the past 24 hours the state conducted 4911 tests, compared with 93,581 in NSW.
The total number of active confirmed cases in WA stands at 23, with 19 in hotel quarantine and four in self-quarantine.
A further three infections were detected in returned travellers already in quarantine on Tuesday.
The state’s vaccination rate for those aged 12 and over was 91.5 per cent first dose and 83.4 per cent double dose.
