A woman who was allegedly murdered in a stabbing attack has been remembered as someone who was filled with laughter, as her accused killer faced a Perth court for the first time.

Police allege Mauwa Kizenga, 22, was stabbed just before 8pm on Saturday on Walderton Ave near Balga Primary School.

She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital but later died.

Clarence Jalloh, 30, was charged on Sunday with murder and faced Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.

Mr Jalloh was not required to enter a plea and was remanded in custody to face Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on April 17.

Outside court, Dave Jallah, who said he was representing Perth’s Liberian community, said he wanted to show support for Ms Kizenga’s family.

Mr Jallah also revealed he had previously spoken to the accused man.

Meanwhile, Ms Kizenga’s family have set up a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising funds for her funeral.

“Mauwa ... (had) her entire life ahead of her. She was filled with love, life and laughter,” Ms Kizenga’s cousin Aline Mulumba wrote.

“The family of Mauwa would greatly appreciate any little amount that you can contribute toward her funeral.

“Mauwa, you will be dearly missed, your smile, vibrancy and positive aura can never be replaced.

“May your soul find rest today. May God’s peace and love guide the hearts of your family and loved ones.”

Almost $5000 has been raised so far.
