‘Embarrassing’ alleged attempt to steal from Perth bottle shop

A man has allegedly attempted to steal from a Perth bottle shop, but he didn’t make it out the door.

Man's bottle-o walk of shame

A man has been caught on a bottle shop’s security footage trying to make a run for it with a slab of drinks.

But his dash for the exit did not go as planned.

The alleged thief dressed in a flannel shirt could be seen accessing a fridge at The Bottle-O Beechboro in Perth and calmly walking towards the attendant at the front of the shop.

He then appears to quickly make a dash towards the automatic door but is left confused when it won’t open.

He then tries to pull the door open manually, but it won’t budge.

The attendant continues to sit behind the counter watching him until he accepts his defeat and hands the drinks over.

She grabs the product and allows him to leave the store – unlocking the door from behind the counter.

The bottle shop posted the security footage on social media asking if anyone knew the man and people couldn’t believe what they saw.

They mocked the man’s alleged attempt to steal, sarcastically calling him “Einstein” or a “mastermind”.

“How embarrassing for him, imagine her being like ‘Sir please put the drinks down, you can’t get out until you put them down’ and he’s like ‘oh s*** OK fine,’” one woman wrote.

The video did not have sound.

Some applauded the shop attendant and branded her a hero, while others said it could have been dangerous to lock herself in the shop with him.

WA Police confirmed to news.com.au the incident took place at about 11.15am on Tuesday.

Police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
