Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt adds Perth sideshow to Aussie tour

Springsteen guitarist and acclaimed actor Steven Van Zandt will be bringing the Disciples of Soul to town with a Perth show on April 13.

Steven Van Zandt, guitarist and founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s legendary E Street Band, brings his other band to Perth in April.

During their visit Down Under for the Byron Bay Bluesfest, Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul play Metro City on April 13.

Van Zandt has played with the Disciples, a 14-piece band melding soul to rock’n’roll, on and off since the 1980s.

In addition to touring with the E Street Band and co-producing Springsteen’s classic albums Born in the U.S.A. and The River, the 68-year-old musician and actor starred as mobster Silvio Dante in The Sopranos from 1999 to 2007 and played mafia boss on the run Frank Tagliano in the comedy Lilyhammer for three seasons from 2012.

Van Zandt also hosts the long-running weekly radio show, Little Steven’s Underground Garage, on which he has championed Perth acts Dom Mariani and the Flairz.

The Boston-born rocker grew up in New Jersey and with Springsteen helped create the Jersey Shore sound.

Before forming the E Street Band, the Italian-American rocker played with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, a band closely associated with the Boss.

Tickets go on sale March 26 from 10am Perth time via megatix.com.au, with a pre sale starting the day before.
