The Block 2023: ‘Lambo Guy’ Adrian Portelli plans big blitz of houses on show’s upcoming season
Watch out Danny Wallis, Adrian ‘Lambo Guy’ Portelli has thrown down the gauntlet for the properties on the upcoming season of The Block.
Controversial multimillionaire entrepreneur Adrian ‘Lambo Guy’ Portelli has revealed he will bid to buy every house offered for auction on this year’s season of The Block.
The renovation series wrapped up filming last week with final touches and judging of the Charming Street homes in Melbourne’s Hampton East, with the show to air in early August.

When asked if he planned to bid for any of the homes at the auction finales this year, Mr Portelli said “that’s the plan” and that he would compete for “all of them”.
“I’m going to cause a bit of a ruckus this year,” Mr Portelli said. “I’m happy to bid on all of them and I’m happy to buy all of them, but I’m not going to overpay on any of them. At least people know I’m a serious bidder this time.”
In terms of his competition, Mr Portelli said the “gloves are off” when it comes to The Block super buyer Danny Wallis.
“I don’t have competition against Danny Wallis,” Mr Portelli said. “We’re just in different leagues.”
But he added: “It’s all fun and games. Everyone wins out of this. We don’t hate each other — I like the bloke.”
The 34-year old has already been involved with the show this season, making a surprise appearance last month to be part of a top-secret challenge involving prospective buyers of the properties.
This time, he flew into Melbourne from the Gold Coast and rocked up to filming in a flashy, black Bentley, worth more than $500,000.
“They’ve all done a fantastic job this year,” Mr Portelli said. “They’re very nice houses and more appealing to a bigger audience than the country homes (in country Victoria last year).”
The self-made millionaire made headlines when he turned up to the 2022 auction finale of The Block in a yellow Lamborghini and was dubbed a “dummy bidder” for pushing up the price for contestants Omar and Oz’s house.
He bowed out of that bidding war, which was ultimately won by serial Block bidder Danny Wallis. Portelli later splashed $4.25m on another house from the series, which had been passed in at auction.

Then in April, Mr Portelli smashed the record for Melbourne’s most expensive apartment, splurging $39m on a luxury penthouse in the new Sapphire by the Gardens twin-tower CBD development.
Last month, he had the country’s attention again when he craned his $3m McLaren Senna GTR up to the penthouse in front of many curious onlookers.
