Police have since issued renewed warnings about the use of fireworks in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve.

In Victoria, fireworks are classed as a type of explosive, and can only be used by licensed pyrotechnicians or those under their supervision.

The man’s death marks another tragedy this festive season, with one man dying in a workplace incident on Christmas Eve and another being seriously injured at a Christmas Day beach party.

Tradie and dad-of-two, 29-year-old Aaron Greentree, was fatally electrocuted while working on a house in Sydney’s southwest on Tuesday morning.

Despite best efforts from paramedics, the man could not be revived.

Emergency services were called to the North Avoca Beach on NSW’s Central Coast about 3pm on Tuesday, after reports of a teenager getting swept off the rocks after being hit by a wave.

Helicopter were called to find and rescue the 15-year-old boy, now identified as Luca Bennett, with the search continuing into Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, police confirmed the search was no longer considered a rescue mission and was instead operating in a recovery phase.

A third incident happened at a Christmas Day beach party in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

On Wednesday about 4.30pm, a man was seriously injured after trying to jump off a cliff into a pool at the beach party on Bronte Beach.

Emergency services were called to the beach event following reports the man suffered a serious head injury, and transported him to St Vincent’s Hospital in a serious condition.
