A pink Victorian mansion in the heart of St Kilda has been described as a “joyous house”, featuring everything from a disco ball to a lavish indoor pool.
The colourful, five-bedroom residence, St Kilda House at 34 Charnwood Rd, is for sale with a $4.6m-$4.8m price guide, and is owned by SJB interiors director Andrew Parr.
Parr renovated the large mansion after he bought the property in 2019 for $3.45m.

It has a number of living zones with marble fireplaces and leadlight windows, while an indoor pool surrounded by plants is the home’s centrepiece.
Parr said it was a great entertainer’s house, where lots of parties had been held.
“It’s a pretty joyous house to live in, and in fact it is full of light which is very unusual for a lot of Victorian (houses),” he said.
“The front room is great to go to sleep in during the day; Sunday afternoon in the front room is really nice.”
Parr said one of his favourite parts of the home was the indoor pool, as you could sit around it no matter the season.
“I think from day one, even when it was built it would have been a pretty house to live in,” he said.
“It’s a highly decorative, unusual Victorian house, which I think I was drawn to.”
Parr said he was selling because he’d decided to downsize, possibly to a smaller, terrace house.
Set on top of St Kilda Hill, the manor is more than 140 years old and was built by Toorak builder Henry Everest.
One of its many statement features includes the indoor swimming pool featuring a day bed and disco ball.
The mansion had previously been converted into flats, with former VFL footballers Arthur and Ted Leach holding an interest in the property at one point.
Marshall White Port Phillip partner Ben Manolitsas said there was an energy about the home that was hard to describe.
“It’s got lots of accommodation. I think there’s a big emphasis on living; it’s got lots of bedrooms, so many different living zones,” Manolitsas said.
“There’s so much colour, every room is different.”
Manolitsas said the house had a really good feeling to it and believed it would attract families and couples.
“St Kilda attracts, in itself, a vibrant buyer; I think it’s going to be someone that likes to entertain,” he said.
