Richmond: Sculptor Aileen Corbett lists her creative converted warehouse and home studio
An art-filled converted warehouse where a sculptor lives and works in Richmond is set to go to auction. Take a look at the cool inner-city home with a brutalist aesthetic.
A cool and character-filled Richmond converted warehouse that doubles as a sculptor’s creative space is brushing up for a weekend auction.
The two-bedroom apartment at 51 Little Hoddle St is for sale with a $850,000-$900,000 price guide.
Nelson Alexander partner Charlie Barham said the owner, ceramic artist Aileen Corbett, used the garage area – which is separated from the main home via mirrored sliding doors – as a studio for design, research and production, although she uses off-site firing services to put finishing touches on her work.

Mr Barham said the residence has a “unique sense of character and cool”.
The concrete and brick building features polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling windows in the living and dining area and a steel framed, double glazed glass facade.
“It is over one level, with high concrete ceilings, dramatic steel glass windows and a high-end fit-out creating a perfect inner city pad,” Mr Barham said.
“It has a brutalist aesthetic with impeccable finishes – a perfect blend of old and new, and a minimalist palette for the owner to adorn her walls with artworks she has collected over the years.”
The kitchen is fitted with marble benchtops, Italian appliances, an induction cooktop and integrated dishwasher and fridge.
Russian oak floors and Poliform built-in wardrobes feature in the bedrooms, while the bathroom is equipped with a rainfall shower and European laundry.
Also on offer is keyless entry, an alarm system, split system heating and cooling, a car charging outlet and smart lighting throughout.
The home is within walking distance of the MCG, North Richmond train station, Victoria St retail and dining precinct, Fitzroy Gardens, Collingwood, Abbotsford and Fitzroy, plus Melbourne’s CBD.
“The owner says it is in a pocket that no-one knows exists so it’s extremely private yet there are so many incredible cafes, restaurants and shops at the property’s doorstep,” Mr Barham said.
The apartment will be auctioned at noon on Saturday.
